If there's one thing I love to do, it's testing new apps. Am I addicted? A little. But I tested several apps in 2024 and now I'm going to tell you the best ones that are really worth it.
Every now and then, an app appears that promises to make life easier, revolutionize productivity or even change the way we relate to technology.
But as an official tester, I'll be honest: most of them are just more of the same.
So, instead of downloading anything, I decided to do a real test: I spent the last few months trying out several different apps – some amazing, others completely useless – and now I'm going to tell you which ones really made a difference in my day-to-day life and which I recommend with my eyes closed.
So, if you like technology and want to discover apps that are worth your time and space on your cell phone, come with me!
1. Arc Browser – the browser that made me abandon Chrome
I've always been team Chrome. But then they introduced me to Arc Browser and, honestly? I've never looked back.
It has a super clean look, a different way of organizing tabs (no more mess in the browser!) and, on top of that, it also has built-in tools that make productivity much easier.
What I liked most:
Minimalist and organized layout
Side tab system that makes everything easier to find
Built-in features like note editor and screenshot capture
If you spend your day in the browser and feel like you could be more organized, it's worth a try.
Available for: Mac and Windows
2. CapCut – the video editor everyone should use
If you've ever needed to edit a video and thought you needed a super professional program, I have good news: CapCut solves practically everything in a simple way.
It's free, full of ready-made effects and templates, and works for both quick edits and more elaborate videos.
Highlights:
Incredibly easy to use
Huge library of effects, transitions and soundtracks
Sync with TikTok and Instagram Reels
I use it for everything: from editing quick videos for Instagram to improving more elaborate recordings.
Available for: iOS, Android and Desktop
3. Fitbod – the personal trainer in your pocket
I always go to the gym and feel lost, not knowing what to do, until I give up training and forget the way to the gym. But I found Fitbod and it saved my life.
It creates personalized workouts based on what you've already done and the equipment available. In other words, no random training or repeating the same exercises over and over.
Why did I like it so much?
Generates workouts adapted to you
Shows exactly how to do each exercise
Adjust the intensity as you progress
Since I started using it, my training routine has become much more organized and efficient.
Available for: iOS and Android
4. Notion – the app that finally made me more organized
I've tried every organization app out there. But none of them come close to Notion.
It combines notes, to-do lists, database, calendar… all in one place. You can customize it however you want, create amazing dashboards and finally have a system that works for you.
Strengths:
Fully customizable
You can create anything from a simple checklist to a complex project plan.
Integration with several other apps
If you feel like your life is a digital mess, download this app now.
Available for: iOS, Android, Windows and Mac
5. Calm – the app that made me sleep better (and really relax)
If there's one thing I neglected for a long time, it was sleep and stress management. I thought it was just a fad until I realized I woke up tired, unfocused and always with my head racing.
That's when I tested the Calm – a meditation and relaxation app that really works.
What helped me the most:
Bedtime stories (I never thought this would work, but I'm out in minutes)
Relaxing sounds and music that help with concentration
Guided meditation sessions to ease your mind on the heaviest days
After a few weeks of using it, I noticed that my sleep quality improved and even my productivity during the day increased.
If you feel like you're moving too fast, I recommend giving it a try..
Available for: iOS and Android
So, which one are you going to test first?
I'm kind of addicted to testing apps, so I always have a huge list of new favorites. But these five were the ones that really made a difference in my life and that I continue to use to this day.
If you've already used any of them, tell me: which one is your favorite? And if there's any other amazing app that I should try, send me a tip!
