Here I'll show you how I watch the Oscars live (without missing any iconic moments).
If there's one event I won't miss for anything, it's the Oscars.
It doesn't matter if you're one of those people who only watch for the red carpet, if you want to see your favorite actor's emotional speech or if you're rooting for your favorite movie of the year – the Oscars always deliver a scene that becomes history.
And between you and me, who doesn't remember Will Smith's slap? Or that bizarre mistake in the ad for La La Land? Imagine not watching it live and only finding out later through the memes… unthinkable!
So, so that no one runs this risk in 2025, I'm going to tell you where to watch, what the best options are and how to prepare to follow everything without any hassle.
Let's go?
When and where will the 2025 Oscars take place?
But first, the basic info:
Date: March 2, 2025
Location: Dolby Theatre, Los Angeles
Now, the important part: where to watch.
Where can you watch the 2025 Oscars live?
If there's one thing I've learned in recent years, it's that the Oscars aren't as easy to find on TV as they used to be. But don't worry, you can still watch them without having to resort to questionable links.
1. Pay TV (the traditional way)
If you still have cable TV, TNT broadcasts the Oscars in Brazil. And, as always, there is that special coverage of TNT Red Carpet before the ceremony, showing the looks, interviews and that pre-awards atmosphere.
I like to leave the TV on from early on so I don't miss any details – after all, there are people who go for the event, but I'm also here to see who got the look right (or really wrong).
2. Streaming (my favorite option!)
If you, like me, have already retired from cable TV, you can watch everything online.
Max (formerly HBO Max) – Max has a partnership with TNT, so the Oscar broadcast also takes place on Max. If you already subscribe, just turn on the app and that's it.
Tip: Download the app on your cell phone or Smart TV before the event, because on the day of the event the platform may experience some basic problems with so many people accessing it at the same time.
3. Social media and YouTube (for those who just want the highlights)
If you don't mind watching the entire ceremony, YouTube and the Academy's and TNT's social networks post the best moments practically in real time.
This includes emotional speeches, winners being announced, and even those moments that instantly become memes.
But honestly, nothing replaces watching it live and feeling the suspense when the envelopes are drawn.
How to prepare to watch the Oscars like a true movie buff
If you're one of those people who likes to get into the mood, here are some tips to make the experience even better:
✔ Watch the nominated films first! There's nothing worse than watching a movie and not knowing why everyone is talking about it. I always do a marathon of my favorites before the awards ceremony.
✔ Create your pool! My friends and I always make bets on who will win each category. Whoever guesses the most wins a dinner paid for by the group. (Do I recommend it? Obvious!)
✔ Prepare the snacks. Spending hours watching awards ceremonies without a good snack is a waste of time. Popcorn, wine, chocolate truffles... whatever. The important thing is to watch it in good company (even if it's just on your couch).
So, are you ready for the 2025 Oscars?
So now that you know how to watch the Oscars live and where you can watch them too, just wait for the nominees to come out, place your bets and root for your favorite.
Now tell me: what was the most unforgettable moment of the Oscars for you to this day? I confess that I still haven't gotten over Will Smith's slap.
